The night in Finland disturbs me. Here are some photos taken in Kokkola, near the Arctic Circle in the end of May.
So this week I was in Kokkola, training for my arrival in Finland. It was one of 25 participants, volunteers from different European countries. Programme: Activities outside and inside, to support teamwork, and understand what being a volunteer in Europe is. We also had a City-Run in Kokkola, and a course to learn Finnish.

During our free time, we were often in the sauna, playing freesbee, volleybal and basket-ball with other people. Real fun moments with other peoples.

Otherwise, we also had never ending evenings beers, chicha, guitar playing and singing (as it never get dark) around a campfire, to get to know eachother! Very good times.
I will miss our delirium, guys! When is the next meeting? I really want to repeat the wizard of automatic doors of shopping gallery! Don't forget the Gorilla!
The perfect group! Big thanks to the organisators...
Miss McAbre also had a great time in Kokkola. She did not want to go home! In these photos, when she was in front of her own cottage, a lighthouse, at Villa Elba, and in the park of Kokkola, in front of the wave's fountain.

Seventh week in finland

I started this week with a nice walk with Ramon on the coast of Vänö. I spotted some beautiful beaches as well, and some drawings on the rock formed by lines of stones. Apparently a Viking tradition. And the sound of birds take flight on the water, just beautiful.
Also, we had been questioned by journalists about a reason why we chose to come to Finland and the article was published ...

I also had some work to remove an old wooden fence that was more than 30 years old. It went fast with 4 people. The sheep were likely to escape, because the 210m of fence was broken. It wil now be replaced by an electric fence. I also spent a little time to varnish the bench around the culturehouse too.
I spent a night in Turku because I had to do paperwork for residency in Finland. I also had a nice evening in a bar.
I finished the week at Brännskär, Lennart and Marigaël came by boat to get me, after a bus ride and taxi to find the nearest harbor. Tomorrow I will go around on the island on a discovery walk.
Miss McAbre had hidden she was an artist at heart. And she has talent, here is what she has created on Brännskär. So ZEN!

Sixth week on Väno

This week, we had a lot of work to cut juniper to prepare the paths for the summer in Vänö. The work went quickly and in a good atmosphere.
Sunday, we wanted to surprise the Italian who came to Vänö. We prepared a poster where we had drawn Vänö. But it is we who have been surprised because he came with the boat taxi Express, to the otherside of the island. Funny moment.
I also had a bit of work with juniper that I had cut near the sauna. I used an electric grinder to reduce them into small pieces. It was a small machine, and I had to help Petra to prepare paths, so I did both for two days.
This week, Miss McAbre went to the chapel bell, so that Vänö will have the favors of nature for this summer, she said.
I also cleaned the little cottage where I will live during the summer. For decoration I chose, some stones, three pine cones, a cactus, and a dreamcatcher. it is not very big, but I think I'll spend a good time here: I can have guests ...
And now, finally, we hosted the latest entrant for archipelago rangers, a Spanish guy, called Ramon as it reads on the rocks. Here is the full team ... The team!

Fifth week on Vänö

This week, I have many stories to tell about the arrival of new volunteers. First, we have been asked by a journalist about our motivations for coming to EVS in Finland. The arrival of the Reunionian girl was a pleasure, because I can speak Creole with her, and she also brought pineapples, passion fruit, chocolate and jam. We prepared a dish for everyone, it does not have a crumb remained.

Eelin made us the training in preparation for the arrival, a good time to discover each other, where we lived, the presentation of our respective missions, among other things ...
In the pictures, our morning at work, together in the woods, with our nice clothes(
we are not prisoners)!

And in these photos we are having our afternoon pinnbröd (bread baked over hot coals) and tea with wild raspberry leaves, at the Viking house. An excellent moment. We also cleaned around the house for the summer.

Today, after a lesson tracking, navigation and safety at sea (thank you Pirjo and Magnus), we went for a tour by boat, between volunteers. At noon, a good meal of fried fish (thank you Joakim). And no, we do not fish with the mouth here, unfortunately, because I'd like to ...
At 19.30, I Have found Miss McAbre with her friend, Noname, taking the sun on the hill, I stayed a while with them, feeingl the tingling of the sun on my skin ...

Fourth weeks in Finland

This week, we are ready for the arrival of three new volunteers, a Bulgarian, a Portuguese and a Reunionian, for three months. So I cleaned the countryhouse, where they will prepare for their mission, and take their meals. Little trouble with the vacuum cleaner and brooms, but I did my best as I could.

Miss McAbre was sad that I leave Vano this week and she was hidden for sulk, but I have to get the reunionians volunteer at Helsinki airport, and I am also invited to a party in Turku, with Juulia and friends, to mark the first of May. Have you find Miss McAbre on these two pictures?
So I took the ferry to Kasnäs, and from there I went with Joachim meet Stephano, who let me drive his car up to Turku, to watch a football game on his computer. I was happy to drive for the first time in Finland.
This is the week of the first time, you understood. For not changing, I went to see a football game in the evening with Stephano in Turku. Turku winner!
Finish this fabulous week on a note of reggae in the castle's park of Turku, what do you expect? Johanna and I, we have find there some people who were at Juulia's home the last night. It was a nice evening, with songs around the campfire, sauna and juggling. And especially great encounters.
When is the next?
